Jets lose heart and soul of the team long term!
This is a terrible update for Winnipeg, especially at this point in the season. Full details below:
The Winnipeg Jets were unfortunately forced to announced that forward and captain Adam Lowry is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.
On Monday, Lowry left in the first period of the Jets’ 5-2 loss to Utah HC after he fell awkwardly into the boards and did no return to the game. He played 5:18 seconds before he was shut down for the evening.
The worst was confirmed on Wednesday with teammate Josh Morrissey telling Murat Ates of the Winnipeg Sun that the long-term absence of Lowry will be a “huge loss.”
“On the ice, what you see, we miss. Off the ice, what people don’t see — the leadership, how he brings the guys together … We’ll miss that.”
Pierre LeBrun added that the Jets are losing the “heart and soul of the team”.
Lowry has recorded 11 goals and 26 points in 48 games this season. His leadership will be missed in the dressing room as Winnipeg continue to be a top contender entering in the postseason.
The Jets hold the top spot in the Central division with a 31-14-3 record and will look to break a small two-game losing skid against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
