New Jersey Devils star forward Jack Hughes appears to be badly injured after a hard crash into the boards.
Oh boy this does not look good for the New Jersey Devils.
On Sunday night, Devils star forward Jack Hughes appeared to suffer a serious injury during a clash between the Devils and the Vegas Golden Knights. Hughes and Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel appeared to get tangled up near the end boards and the results would be catastrophic for Hughes.
Eichel's skate would cause Hughes to fall forward and sent him diving into the boards, and it appeared as though Hughes' left arm absorbed the brunt of the collision with the end boards. Hughes left arm bent at an ugly angle as he crashed into the boards and it was obvious immediately that he was in considerable pain.
Hughes could be seen cradling his arm against his body as he flexed the fingers in his glove, appearing to be in agony on the ice as he did so. Even when Hughes eventually got back to his feet, he gingerly made his way off the ice as he clutched his left arm close to his body the entire way.
Obviously a serious injury to Hughes this late in the season would be nothing short of catastrophic for the Devils, and what makes this one all that much worse is that it occurred in the final two minutes of tonight's game.
There was no call on the play and that was enough to send Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe into an absolutely furor, with Keefe eventually getting himself tossed from those final two minutes of the game after being awarded a bench minor and sent to the locker room by the officials on the ice.
