Amidst concern for the long-time Bruins broadcaster, he finally speaks out:

A week prior to the Christmas break, the Boston Bruins’ entourage had annonunced that Alex Faust would replaced long-time NESN broadcaster Jack Edwards for the next few games.
Fans immediately thought something was wrong with Edwards since concern has been growing about his health in recent seasons. In recent months, fans have become concerned about his well being, as his speech and talking patterns have led to rumors of his having suffered some kind of health problem.
When the announcement was confirmed that Faust would cover for Edwards, fans thought the worst. However, just before Christmas, Edwards himself took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal the truth behind his absence and how fans should not worry about his health.
“Happy Holidays! Contrary to misinformation (imagine that!), I am fit & healthy,” Edwards posted.
“I will not be in the booth for 2 more games: the Ottawa/Philly roady in January,” he added. “I look forward to calling years of Bruins games. I am enjoying a holiday week family vacation. First time in 17 years.”
This appears to put an end to the chatter about his future as the play-by-play voice for the Bruins.
However, the concern remains for his health as his update on social media did not reveal everything. There are clear signs in recent weeks that Edwards’ speech has been slurred and inconsistent, though he may not be willing to share about this at the time being.
I sincerely hope that everything is alright with Edwards. I hope there is nothing wrong with him, but that would only mean, he is no longer good at his job. During Edwards' time away from the network, fans have been praising Faust for his commentary and some even pushed for him to take over full time and continue without the exuberant broadcaster. Whatever may be happening, this might be something the Bruins and / or NESN needs to address in the neat future.
