J.T. Miller forced to step away from the team after being struck by personal tragedy.

The 2024-25 National Hockey League regular season was a chaotic one for veteran forward J.T. Miller and unfortunately for Miller is seems that he hasn't gotten any reprieve from that despite the season being over for the New York Rangers.

Monday was the end of season media availability for all of the Rangers players but notably absent from that media availability was Miller, who was acquired by the Rangers mid-season in a massive trade.

While Miller's absence was surprising it is understandable given what we now know, with Rangers insider Mollie Walker reporting that Miller has been forced to step away from the team due to a personal tragedy. According to Walker, Miller was unable to attend today's media availability due to having a close personal friend pass away.

I'm sure everyone can understand why Miller would need to step away at a time like this, especially given that there aren't anymore games for the Rangers to play and all he really missed was a chance for reporters to ask him a few questions about a difficult season.

Miller of course began the season with the Vancouver Canucks but an alleged rift between him and Canucks star forward Elias Pettersson would eventually lead to him being dealt back to the Rangers, a team he had previously played for.

I wish both Miller and his family all the best as they deal with this terrible personal tragedy.
