J.T. Miller scores in first period back with the New York Rangers.

J.T. Miller wasted no time getting acclimated to a familiar place with the Rangers, picking up an early goal in his first game back.

The New York Rangers pulled off a big trade on Friday and it is already paying off.

On Saturday afternoon, Rangers forward J.T. Miller appeared in his first game as a Ranger since the trade when the Rangers faced off against the Boston Bruins. Unfortunately for Miller and the Rangers, it would be the Bruins who would get out to an early lead when they opened the scoring but it wouldn't be long before the newest member of the Rangers would respond.

A solid play from Artemi Panarin on the forecheck would create a turnover in front of Bruins star goaltender Jeremy Swayman, and it would be Miller who would pounce on the loose puck to fire a shot in Swayman's direction. Sure enough Miller's shot would find it's way past Swayman and into the back of the net, giving him a goal in the very first period of his very first game back in a Rangers uniform.

Here's a look at the goal:

Miller's trade to the Rangers was facilitated thanks in large part to a feud between Miller and his now former teammate Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks, and I suspect that the Rangers will get a highly motivated J.T. Miller in the coming days as a result of just how emotionally charged his departure from Vancouver appears to have been.
