J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson’s own teammate responsible for leaking feud in dressing room?!

Former NHLer Scott Gomez weighs in on the drama in Vancouver with interesting new info. Full story below:

Chris Gosselin

What started out with rumours and chatter turned into a full blown saga in Vancouver, which led to Canucks president Rutherford speaking candidly with Gary Mason of the “Globe and Mail” about the team’s struggles this season and openly admitted that a locker room feud between stars Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller has fractured the club.

And so the trade rumours and all of the chatter only got louder, which prompted insider Andy Strickland to speak about dressing rooms with former NHLer Scott Gomez.

Gomez admitted that it happens more than fans think that two teammates don’t get along, however, he believes that because it’s happening in a hot hockey market like Vancouver, media is all over it.

“Like if this is happening in Jersey, no one cares. No one cares. But in Toronto or Vancouver, these Canadian cities, say so… a lot of it is just built up. Built up.”

Gomez went on to say that he believes some Canucks’ teammates might have been fed up about losing and the rumours behind the struggles, that one of team leaked the feud in the dressing room.

“Who leaked it got out, you’re the guy that you know - and a lot of times, who knows if it is someone else leaking it out, just the fact that it takes pressure off me. I haven’t done anything.

“As long as I get the pressure off me then yeah. The bottom line is we’re losing and we’re going to blame these two or you know, like some one of you guys come out and say what the hell happened? Because I am getting sick of answering the same question everyday of these two.

“Maybe if there’s a problem, those two guys address it and not joke about it because as the other teammates, I’m going in the room everyday in a Canadian city and I have to answer what’s wrong with this team? because these two guys whatever supposedly don’t like each other.”

It would make sense if one of the other Canucks’ teammates to have had enough and wanting to pull it all out there to get this solved. He probably didn’t think it could lead to a trade, or even two, but now the feud is out there and rival teams are calling about both Miller and Pettersson.

Rutherford believes that the team always feels better when they rack up points and get some wins, and that if the Canucks are successful, it could change the dynamics in the dressing room and allow for a fresh start.

I’m not sure Gomez would agree with that, but let’s see what happens between now and yes, the March 7 trade deadline.
