Italian star player gets shot by his dad in hunting trip gone horribly wrong!

This is an insane story! I can’t believe the poor guy got shot by his father…

The Expressen has reported that Italian star defenseman Gregorio Gios, who’s been playing for Asiago HC of the ICE league in Austria for the past four years, was injured over the weekend during a hunting trip.

Gregorio Gios went on a trip with his father, Andrea Gios, who is the President of the Italian Ice Hockey Federation. In the woods, Andrea Gios reportedly discharged his firearm and inadvertently hit his 25-year-old son. In the article, the comments from Andrea Gios that were translated say:

“I don’t want to talk about it. It’s something that hurts to remember. Everything turned out fine, thank God nothing serious happened.”

Gregorio Gios managed to escape the terrible incident with no major injuries, though it will take some time before he’s back on the ice. In the article, it reads:

“According to the father, his son is now undergoing rehabilitation. The hope is that he can be back on the ice by Christmas.”
Gregorio Gios has also represented his home country in several international matches and is hoping for a full recovery.
In 10 games this season with Asiago HC, Gregrio Gios has recorded two assists along with a -1 rating.

I can only hope he gets better soon and that his father also recover from the incident. I can certainly why he does not want to talk about it and relive the horror of realizing you’ve shot your own son by accident. It’s however great news that Gregorio Gios was not seriously injured.
