A warning to all of our readers, this is the kind of story that is likely to leave your blood boiling.

A 16 year old hockey player is now fighting for his life following a senseless and horrific tragedy over the weekend, one that occurred while the young boy and his father were returning from a hockey game. The victim, 16 year old Colin Brown, who plays for Christian Brothers College High School and the Affton Americans, was struck by a bullet when he and his father were driving home from a hockey game sometime around 10:30 pm on Saturday night. The shots were fired into the vehicle and 16 year old Colin was struck by a bullet, with his father quickly racing towards law enforcement officials and emergency responders in an effort to save his son.

Colin was scheduled to hit the ice on Sunday evening where he and his teammates from CBC High School were set to clash against the Seckman Jaguars Ice Hockey Club at the Kennedy Recreation Center, but that game was canceled in lieu of what transpired on Saturday night.

Colin's father has taken to social media to call on the city of St. Louis to better equip their law enforcement personnel in order to help them prevent any tragedies like this from happening in the future.

"As a family and as a former law enforcement official with over 28 years of experience, we believe that greater efforts are needed in the City of St. Louis and the surrounding region to support the police and equip them with the necessary tools to combat such senseless, violent gun crimes," wrote Colin's father on social media platform Facebook.

This story is quickly gaining widespread attention in the hockey community with figures like former National Hockey League referee Tim Peel asking for prayers on behalf of young Colin.

NHL player Pat Maroon has also shared his thoughts via a post on Instagram.
