The Islanders have traded veteran forward Brock Nelson to the Avalanche in a whopper of a deal!

The Isles acquire forward Calum Ritchie, a first-round selection in the 2026 or 2027 NHL Draft, a conditional third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft, and defenseman Oliver Kylington from the Colorado Avalanche, in exchange for Brock Nelson and William Dufour.


NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reports that the Islanders have retained 50% of Nelson's $6 million salary.

According to a report from New York Islanders insider Arthur Staple, the team is trading veteran forward Brock Nelson.


The 33 year old forward is in the final year of a six year deal that pays him $6 million annually and is scheduled to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason. 

He has a stellar 20 goals and 43 points in 61 games this season and was a member of Team USA's 4 Nations Faceoff roster.
