A scary scene took place last night in the game between the Edmonton Oilers and Lightning in Tampa Bay. It does not matter if you’re not a fan of forward Evander Kane, you just hate to see him in so much pain and in danger.
In the second period, Kane fell to the ice after getting tangled up with Lightning defenceman Philippe Myers. Once down, he couldn’t move when forward Pat Maroon accidentally skated over his wrist.
Right away, Kane frantically skated to his team’s bench to get to the room and the help of paramedics and doctors.
The Oilers then announced that Kane was in stable condition after cutting his left wrist badly, but had been transported to hospital for surgery.
More details then emerged on what happened and Mark Spector pointed out how Sportsnet host Gene Principe mentioned how he heard Kane yelling for help as he was running down the tunnel to the trainer’s room. His teammates were visibly shaken by Kane’s reaction and the amount of blood on the ice.
The most important thing remains Kane’s health, but fans have to be wondering now how long the Oilers will be without the top forward.
Kane has five goals and eight assists over 13 games this season with Edmonton. On Wednesday morning, Kane provided an update on his condition as he now focuses on his recovery.
