Two National Hockey League teams have been active on waivers Sunday, with a former first round pick being one of the players that is up for grabs.

According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, both the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils were active on waivers Sunday, with the Islanders placing forward Julien Gauthier on waivers and the Devils placing forward Adam Beckman on waivers.

Of the two Gauthier has much more NHL experience with 181 career games under his belt including 19 goals and 22 assists for a total of 41 career points. Gauthier was selected in the first round (21st overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, but has played for the Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators and Islanders throughout his NHL career. He has appeared in just a single game this season, recording no points.

Beckman, a former third round pick (75th overall) of the Minnesota Wild has not appeared in an NHL game yet this season but finds himself on waivers nonetheless. Beckman's NHL experience thus far has all come as a member of the Minnesota Wild, a team with which he played in 23 games, picking up 3 assists over that stretch of play.

Any team in the NHL will have the option to place a claim for either player if they wish to pick them up for their respective rosters, but we won't know which teams submit a claim, if any, until Monday afternoon.

Stay tuned for more details.
