Flashback: Connor McDavid compares his game to unlikely figure!

Talk about an interesting comparison!

Michael W.

To say that Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is having a spectacular postseason would be a major understatement.

The superstar forward has recorded 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) so far in Edmonton's 12 games, already over halfway to breaking the NHL record for points in one postseason that is currently held by - you guessed it - Wayne Gretzky with 47 points in 1985.

But prior to his having been drafted 1st overall by the Oilers in 2015, McDavid compared his own playing style to that of a bit of an eye-opening figure.

"Tyler Bozak," McDavid said, "because he is a good skater and is more of a pass-first type of guy."

Of course, the current St. Louis Blues veteran found himself in the headlines late last night after his game-winning overtime tally against the Colorado Avalanche, perhaps one of the most unlikely of players to tally the all-important OT goal.

What did the then-top prospect say his best assets were?

"I think that I am a good skater as well as passer."

Meanwhile, what part of his game did he think he most needed to work on?

"My defensive game needs to get better along with my shot and faceoffs, being a full 200-foot player is very important."

However, just about everyone would agree that there's simply no comparison in the two players.
