Evan Bouchard officially passes Oilers legend Paul Coffey

Bouchard's name is in the team record books!

The Edmonton Oilers have officially made the Florida Panthers and their fans nervous, as they've now won two straight games after having initially fallen behind three games to none in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. They jumped out to a 4-1 lead in last night's Game 5, and held on for a 5-3 victory to send the series back to Alberta for Game 6.

Suddenly, all of the pressure is now on the Panthers, who have now blown two straight chances to lift the Stanley Cup, to avoid what would be a historic collapse.

Not only did star captain Connor McDavid come through with another clutch performance, but defenseman Evan Bouchard also delivered - and set some team history in the process. With his second period assist, he's officially surpassed team legend Paul Coffey for most helpers in a postseason run with 26!

As if that weren't enough, he also becomes the first defenseman since Brian Leetch as part of the New York Rangers' run to the Stanley Cup in 1994 to reach 32 total points in a postseason run.

Game 6 between the Oilers and Panthers is scheduled for Friday night at Rogers Place, and it will be the final game of the season on home ice for Edmonton regardless of the outcome. Can they continue their incredible comeback effort and force a Game 7 back in Sunrise, or will the Panthers be able to close it out?
