Epic story of how Brent Burns hitched a ride to McDonald's drive-thru to get 100 cheeseburgers for his teammates
This is incredible! Burnsie is an all-time teammate!
I swear, some of the back room stories that I've heard in my years of covering the NHL just sound phony.
I can sniff an over-exaggeration from a mile away... but this next story...
I believe it with full conviction. Mostly, because of the main character: Brent Burns.
Read below for a full account of how Burns managed to wrangle up 100 McDonald's cheeseburgers for his hungry Carolina Hurricanes teammates after the team's flight was cancelled this past weekend.
From Vancouver Canucks insider Dan Murphy of Sportsnet:
So... to reiterate: The boys couldn't eat on the plane, so Burnsie ordered up 100 cheeseburgers. When the McDonald's wouldn't let him walk through the Drive-Thru, he knocked on someone's window (after midnight, mind you) and asked politely if they would drive him through.
Again, if this were almost anyone else I wouldn't believe it. But because it's Brent Burns I believe it 100%.
