Emergency on Habs’ plane after win in Washington
The Canadiens won 5-2 over the Capitals last night, but it went downhill from there…

The Montreal Canadiens handed the Washington Capitals their fifth straight loss last night, putting them in danger of missing the postseason.
However, following their 5-2 victory and attempting to head out of the nation’s capital, it was the Canadiens’ players themselves that were put in danger.
As Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports has reported, the Canadiens are stuck in Washington and stayed over night as there was a plane issue once they attempted to fly back to Montreal.
Thankfully, the NHL schedule is working in the Habs’ favour as they are only set to take on the Dallas Stars in Montreal on Saturday.
The Canadiens are expected to make it back to Montreal throughout the day, once the plane is deemed safe for the trip.
This is a slow week for the Habs who were playing for the first time in 10 days due to the All-Star Break over the past weekend in Toronto. Captain Nick Suzuki was the Habs’ lone representative and was part of the team of Connor McDavid and celebrity captain Will Arnett. The team ended up losing to team Auston Matthews in the final game of the tournament. However, Suzuki came back from the break firing. He posted two goals and an assist in the Canadiens’ win over the Capitals.
And so, despite the plane issue and the decision to stick around longer in Washington to remedy the situation and get home safe, the Canadiens are back strong from the break.
