Disturbing details emerge about the tragic passing of London Knights player Abakar Kazbekov.
A terrible story gets even worse.
On Saturday we brought you the stunning news that 18 year old London Knights player Abakar Kazbekov had suddenly and tragically passed away just hours after playing what would be his final game in the Ontario Hockey League.
The news shocked the hockey community and left many with unanswered questions about what had happened to so suddenly change the course of Kazbekov's life. Thankfully, thanks to the London Police Service (LPS), we now have more details about what happened to Kazbekov but unfortunately they only serve to make this an even more tragic story.
LPS confirmed that they were investigating after a body was discovered on the sidewalk in front of a luxury apartment building on Saturday morning. A spokesperson for the LPS also confirmed that the victim was believed to have fallen from the building, which would appear to indicate that Kazbekov either fell or jumped to his death following the Knight's game against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night.
“Around 8:20 a.m. members of the London Police Service were dispatched to attend the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and Talbot Street for a person that had reportedly fallen from the building,” said LPS Const. Travis Buckle as per CTV News.
The LPS was also able to confirm that there was no suspicion of foul play involved in the incident.
The 18 year old native of Moscow, Russia had moved to Canada to pursue his dream of becoming a professional hockey player and it is awful to see those dreams come to such a sad, tragic, and premature conclusion.
Once again my condolences go out to the London Knights, the OHL, the hockey community at large, and of course all of Abakar Kazbekov's friends, family, and loves ones.
