Devastating injury update on Kings veteran Doughty
Are the Kings' playoff hopes over before the season even begins?
UPDATE: NHL insider Frank Seravalli is now reporting that Doughty has a fractured ankle as a result of last night's collision.
Officially, Doughty's status is long-term with a more defined timetable to come once doctors make a determination.

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty left last night's preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights with an apparent leg or achilles injury.
Doughty got tangled up with Knights forward Tanner Pearson and appeared to jam his left skate head on into the sideboards. Doughty remained on the ice in considerable pain for awhile before he was helped off the ice by teammates.

Oooooof... that's tough just to look at.
Kings fans will recall that forward Quinton Byfield suffered a similar injury in his rookie season, which limited him to just 40 games. Here's hoping that Doughty doesn't suffer the same fate because he's a key cog in the Kings' defensive corps.
