The NHL Trade Deadline is on the horizon, and as it currently stands, the Maple Leafs occupy the 1st Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference thanks to their hot and cold season.
Leafs 1st year general manager Brad Treliving has already made multiple additions to the roster, bringing in the likes of Tyler Bertuzzi, Martin Jones, Max Domi, and John Klingberg shortly after arriving.
Could another move be on the horizon? According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Maple Leafs are one potential team that could be interested in acquiring Montreal Canadiens Sean Monahan:
"Monahan rejoined the Habs prior to this season in hopes of rebounding and rejuvenating his game. Montreal explored re-signing him, but are moving ahead with an off-season promise to move him to a contender. He’s a UFA this summer and has drawn interest from teams in need of help up the middle."
Teams Reportedly Linked: Colorado, Winnipeg, NY Rangers, Toronto
Monahan has scored 13 goals with 22 assists in 49 games played for the Habs this season, and will see his $1.985 million deal expire this offseason.
