Cole Caufield scores a very special goal for Johnny Gaudreau in Columbus this evening

Yes! Lucky #13!

Trevor Connors

Just days after the death of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield shared a photo of Gaudreau on social media calling him, "my hero."

Being a speedy and highly skilled offensive player of limited stature himself, Caufield admired how the 5'9", 163lb Gaudreau carried himself in the NHL's tough environment. Neither player is gifted in size, Caufield himself stands 5'8" and weighs 175lbs, but they make up for it in skill, creativity and downright determination.

Prior to the season Caufield paid the ultimate tribute to Gaudreau, his ultimate hero: He announced he would be switching his jersey number to 13 in honor of Gaudreau.

Below is a beautiful, heartfelt message from Caufield:

An incredible tribute for a very worthy role model.

And this evening he paid tribute to #13 by scoring his 13th goal of the season in Columbus, while Johnny was looking down.

Check it out:

Again, a fitting tribute. RIP Johnny Hockey.
