Claude Giroux shows his true colors against his former team.

Pure class from Claude Giroux.

It likely wasn't an easy decision for long time Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux to leave the only team that he had ever played for, and if there was any doubt that Giroux left with anything but love for Philly in his heart he may have erased those doubts on Saturday night.

On Saturday, Giroux and his new team, the Ottawa Senators, faced off against his former Flyers in what would prove to be a losing affair for the Senators who fell by a score of 2-1. It was a fairly typical game but some sharp-eyed fans noticed a moment during the game where Giroux showed his true colors, and showed that he still has a great deal of love and respect for both his former team and his former teammates.

During the game Flyers goaltender Carter Hart would lose his stick during a scramble in front of the net, and in a move that you don't typically see from an opposing player, Giroux decided to help out his former teammate. The former Flyers captain tried to play it cool and make it look like nothing was really going on, but there is simply no mistaking the fact that he kicked the stick back to Hart in an effort to help out a friend in need.

Not only was it a great show of love and respect on the part of a former teammate, but it was also a great display of class and sportsmanship on the part of Giroux. One that I can't help but believe will earn him respect from both the Senators and the Flyers fan base.
