On Friday morning, Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield spoke to the media for the first time since suffering a season-ending injury to his right shoulder.
During his press conference, Caufield, who will undergo surgery on Wednesday, admitted that he separated the same shoulder twice before Christmas leading to the Habs’ decision to sideline him for the remainder of the season.
However, Caufield maintains that if the Canadiens were in the playoffs, he would have kept playing! He misses playing so much that he was forced to admit to reporters that the team and staff have confiscated his skates and sticks to prevent him from shooting and practicing.
“I think they took my sticks away in the locker room. They actually did. And my skates.”
Fans noticed how Caufield appeared heartbroken over the injury and that his season was already over. He now needs to focus on his upcoming surgery, which will be performed by he same surgeon who treated teammate Josh Anderson.
There is no doubt that Caufield was a difference-maker for the Canadiens this season, scoring 26 goals and 36 points in 46 games this season.
