Cam Neely announces the latest update in Jeremy Swayman's negotiations

We're entering crunch time, and the Bruins No. 1 goalie has yet to be signed!

The Boston Bruins made their choice as to who they want as their number one goaltender between the pipes, trading Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in a deal that brought the struggling Joonas Korpisalo to town; he'll be paired up with Jeremy Swayman, who had been 1/2 of the combination with Ullmark the last three seasons.

The only issue now is getting Swayman, whom the Bruins tapped as their starter for all but one of their 2024 Stanley Cup Playoff games, a new contract. A restricted free-agent, Swayman has yet to agree to a new contract with Training Camp now less than a month away.

However, Bruins president Cam Neely's latest update will certainly ease the concerns of Bruins fans. As he puts it, there's "no question" that a deal will get worked out.

"Something will get done. There's no question," Neely said. "Not every negotiation is as smooth as you'd like it. I know our fan base would like something done by now, but I'm fully confident both sides will come to an agreement before too long here."

"Jeremy's only played 44 games in a regular season, which is still significant, but it's not 60 or 65, and (with) Linus, those two certainly helped us have the records we did the last couple of years," he continued. "They're both great goaltenders," Neely said. "Jeremy, he's a guy that's so focused and so determined and he's got a lot of confidence in himself and obviously the age. So, we figured that we would ride with Jeremy."

Last season with the Bruins, Swayman amassed a record of 25-10-8 with a 2.53 goals against average, .916 save percentage and a trio of shutouts. He's coming off a one-year, $3.475 deal that he was awarded after filing for arbitration last summer.
