Bruins made “slap in the face offer“ to Jeremy Swayman!

While fans in Boston need good news, this report doesn’t bode well…

Spittin’ Chiclets co-host Ryan Whitney is not backing down. On Tuesday night, the former NHLer stated how he stands by what he told when he reported earlier this month that the Boston Bruins had made a questionable offer to restricted free agent goaltender Jeremy Swayman, claiming that general manager Don Sweeney had offer the netminder a deal for four years x $6.2M AAV.

When Sweeney met with media at the opening of the Bruins’ training camp, he fired a shot at the podcast, calling it lies and refuting rumours that the organization had not returned Swayman’s calls.

On Tuesday, Whitney did not only stand by what he had reported about Swayman, he added that the offer was “a slap in the face” for the goalie.

“I knew the offer and it was a lowball, slap in the face offer and this is a players podcast,” added Whitney.

As of now, things remain the same in Boston and Swayman will not be on the ice until a contract is finalized.

After trading Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators earlier this summer, the Bruins look to Swayman to lead the way in Boston. Last year, he recorded a .916 save percentage in 44 games and ranked fifth in the NHL in goals saved above expected. The Bruins need him once the season gets underway and every day that goes by without an agreement only lead fans to believe there might be some truth to Whitney’s reports.
