The Boston Bruins are off to a furious start in the 2022-23 NHL season, having won nine of their first ten games and setting a franchise record for most points to start a season in their long and illustrious history.
But they're now going to be without one key member of their blue line. Defenseman Derek Forbort, who was forced from Tuesday night's wild game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after being hit by the puck, has gone under the knife and won't be available any time soon. Forbort underwent open reduction and internal fixation surgery on his right middle finger earlier today, and will be absent for at least the next 4-6 weeks. During his absence, defenseman Mike Reilly has taken his place in the lineup.
