Bruins announce roster moves ahead of Game 3 vs. Leafs

The Boston Bruins were unable to take a commanding two games to none series lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs, dropping a 3-2 decision in Game 2 at TD Garden on Monday night. Leafs captain John Tavares netted the tying goal in the 2nd period, while the Rocket Richard Trophy-winning Auston Matthews delivered the game-winner in the 3rd period. 

The two historic rivals will reconvene tonight in a change of scenery, as the series has shifted to Toronto's Scotiabank Arena. And the Bruins have announced a few roster moves of note in the wake of the injury to Andrew Peeke. 

Both Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon will be making their return to the lineup, along with veteran and former Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk; he'll replace Jakub Lauko. 

For van Riemsdyk, who is playing in his first campaign with the Bruins, he's not putting his desire to play above the needs to the team. 

“That’s what it’s all about. This time of year, you learn that along the way it’s about the team,” van Riemsdyk explained. “Whatever the team asks of you to do, that’s always gotta be your mindset and approach, especially this time of year. You got to stay at it every day and just take it one day at a time.”

van Riemsdyk skated in 71 games for the Bruins during the regular season, scoring 11 goals with 27 assists. 

He's skated in a total of 71 postseason games during his career with the Philadelphia Flyers and Maple Leafs, scoring 20 goals with 11 assists.
