Bruce Cassidy singles out one man in brutal post game comments.
Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy was noticeably furious after Saturday's game.
Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy can get pretty fired up at times, which of course makes perfect sense given his love and passion for the sport of hockey, but the kind of frustration we saw out of Cassidy over the weekend was unlike anything I can recall having seen before.
Cassidy was absolutely furious following his team's loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and never was that more obvious than when Cassidy spoke to reporters following the game. Cassidy appeared to be so angry that he came off as genuinely physically uncomfortable with his surroundings as he shifted back and forth while fielding questions.
One thing was clear throughout, Cassidy was extremely unhappy with the performance from his team.
"A total lack of respect," said Cassidy of what cost his team the game. "Probably most of the night, but the way it kind of ended probably sums that up."
Cassidy was then asked about the blunder from forward Tomas Hertl towards the end of the game, perhaps the biggest fail of the 2024-25 National Hockey League season thus far, and Cassidy made no attempt to spare Hertl's feelings, making it clear that he had let down his entire team with his actions.
"I'd like to see him shoot the puck in the net and end the game that's what I'd like to see," said Cassidy with steam practically coming off his head at this point. "I think the whole team would like to see that."
When asked if this is the kind of game that could be used as a learning experience or one that could be used to send a message to his locker room, Cassidy was again beside himself with frustration at the entire situation.
"I don't know," said Cassidy. "Listen I'm still trying to digest what just happened."
It was without a doubt one of the ugliest endings to an NHL game for any team this season, and there's no doubt it in my mind that it is an ending that Hertl, Cassidy, and the rest of the Vegas Golden Knights won't soon forget.
