Vanek's free agency is over.

Arguably the top free-agent on the market is a free-agent no longer.
A breaking news report from Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that former Florida Panthers forward Thomas Vanek has agreed to sign with the Vancouver Canucks organization.
While there has yet to be official confirmation from either Vanek or the Canucks, Friedman is reporting that this is a one-year deal worth a total of $2 million dollars. Obviously as this a one-year deal his cap hit will also be $2 million on the season.
Vanek is coming off a season split between the Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers, one in which he appeared in a total of 68 NHL games, recording 17 goals and 31 assists for a total of 48 points over that stretch.
This will certainly give the Canucks more offensive firepower this season, and it seems clear that they are hoping it will be enough to push them into playoff contention.
