He has more than three years of missed child support payments

As reported earlier this year, according to a report from the Ottawa Citizen, former NHL forward Chris Simon has gone completely bankrupt, wasting away over $15 million dollars he earned during his tenure as a player in the NHL.

A new report confirms Simon has filed for bankruptcy, alleging he owes more than half a million dollars and is now surviving on government social assistance and disability cheques.

He would reportedly have more than three years of missed child support payments. "I have no ability to pay the alleged arrears or enter into any form of payment agreement," Simon wrote in an affidavit filed with the family court office in Ottawa on May 15. "My financial situation is bleak."

However things appear to be worst for him as he is reportedly battling symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

“Simon has asked the court to forgive the child-support debt, claiming he hasn’t had any significant income for years and is now unable to work because of injuries suffered during his playing career. That included symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, which he said are ‘thought to be attributable to significant brain trauma during his hockey career.’ As reported by Barstool Sports.
