Brady Tkachuk mocks Canadiens rookie Lane Hutson.

Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk was not a fan of the antics from Canadiens rookie Lane Hutson.

Brady Tkachuk was clearly mocking his opponent, but you do have to wonder if that opponent hasn't already gotten into the head of the Ottawa Senators captain.

On Saturday night, Tkachuk made some fans laugh and others angry when he very clearly mocked the play of Montreal Canadiens rookie defenseman Lane Hutson. Hutson is known for using head fakes to throw his opponents off guard or off balance, and he was attempting to do so behind the net while Tkachuk was trying to impede him from advancing the puck.

Hutson took his time and looked for an opening while throwing out a few feints, which in turn would lead to Tkachuk mocking his movements in an over the top and exaggerated fashion. Tkachuk swung his body wildly from left to right while throwing his head around in comical fashion, leading some to criticize him online for his behavior. From my perspective it was really quite funny, and I don't understand why anyone would get upset over something so minor.

I do have to wonder however if Hutson wasn't getting the better of Tkachuk here despite being the one to be mocked, with Tkachuk perhaps displaying a little frustration at the fact that the rookie was giving him a hard time. Earlier in the very same period Tkachuk had been unable to corale Hutson while he was moving with the puck at the top of the zone near the blue line, something that would eventually lead to a Canadiens goal.

Regardless of the reason I think that this will only add another layer to an already strong rivalry between the Senators and Canadiens, and I hope that fans of both teams can look forward to seeing these two go head to head once again later this season. The next matchup between these two teams is quite a ways away however, with the Canadiens traveling to Ottawa on the 22nd of February.
