Boston Bruins cut 14 from their training camp roster.

The Boston Bruins made a huge number of cuts to their roster on Sunday, trimming the roster by 14.

The Boston Bruins have once again drastically reduced their roster, this time with the National Hockey League's regular season just around the corner.

According to a report from Bruins correspondent Shawn Hutcheon, the Bruins have slashed a total of 14 players from their roster with the intention of sending all 14 down to the American Hockey League where they will join the Providence Bruins.

Once again the most surprising name on the list is that of 21 year old forward Fabian Lysell, with many believing that the former first round draft pick could or should have made the team out of training camp. Lysell was previously sent down before being called back up, but with the preseason officially over for the Bruins and with their first game of the regular season scheduled for this Tuesday, it appears he will not be making the opening night roster.

There are two distinct groups of players being trimmed from the roster today, here is a look at the first:

Ryan Bischel
Michael Callahan
Riley Duran
Jackson Edward
Brett Harrison
Kasimir Kaskisuo
Fabian Lysell
Georgi Merkulov
Jaxon Nelson

None of the players on this list are waiver eligible and therefore have been assigned to Providence directly by the Bruins, but that will not be the case for the second group of Bruins cut from the roster on Sunday.

Here is the second group:

Patrick Brown
Brandon Bussi
Jiri Patera
Billy Sweezey
Jeffrey Viel

All of the players in the second group will have to pass through waivers and therefore can be claimed by rival teams across the NHL. In fact, Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal has even suggested that the Canucks may very well be interested in picking up goaltender Jiri Patera, so that will definitely be a name to keep an eye on when we learn who has been claimed, or not, tomorrow around noon EST.

Stay tuned.
