Avs coach Jared Bednar defeated when revealing latest bad news in Colorado
In a long press conference, the Avalanche’s head coach had a lot to unload.
Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar looked defeated on Wednesday when he met with reporters to provide the latest updates on the team’s loaded infirmary.
He announced that forward Ross Colton will miss six-to-eight weeks with a foot fracture and that forward Miles Wood is also out 7-10 days due to an upper-body injury, per Corey Masisak.
Both forwards were injured during Monday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks, which the Avalanche lost 5-2.
Bednar took 10 minutes to explain to media members what was going with his injured players, also revealed that forward Artturi Lehkonen met with the doctors and could get the green light for contact practice before returning to play.
On top of all of this, there is also no precise timeline for the return of captain Gabriel Landeskog, who has not played since Colorado won the Stanley Cup in 2022, missing two full seasons while recovering from a severe knee injury that required cartilage transplant in May 2023.
The Avalanche is facing the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning later today. Colorado will have to do without their best scorer in Colton, who entering into Wednesday’s action was tied for second in the NHL with eight goals in 10 contests.
