From the top rope!

In case you missed it last night, the league leading Vancouver Canucks continued their stellar season with a tidy 2-0 victory over the bottom feeding Chicago Blackhawks.

Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko posted his fifth shutout of the season, while forward Pius Suter and captain Quinn Hughes tallied for the Canucks. Hot and cold Russian Andrei Kuzmenko had two assists and looked to be dangerous in the offensive zone for the entire game.

All in all it was a tidy win for the Canucks, a routine victory in an impressive season so far.

The Blackhawks though... well the opposite could be said. This was another routine loss for a team that has struggled mightily all campaign. The Blackhawks simply don't have enough NHL calibre players to compete with the league's top teams and are more concerned with the development of their young players and prospects more than they're concerning with wins and losses. They're not expected to compete for a playoff spot for a few seasons, at least, and are doing a great job of lining up another top pick at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

So, this is a team that's already down and out. No need to kick 'em while they're down, right?

Well... tell that to the next generation. Because kids can often be the most savage of us all in their blunt assessments.

Last night an 8 year old Canucks fan was featured on the team's JumboTron at Rogers Arena where he had a message for the sad sack Blackhawks:

'you've had a bad season and you suck'

Brutal fatality.

I mean... the kid's not wrong.

The Blackhawks have had a bad season by just about any metric. They've piled up losses, they were forced to kick a veteran leader off their team mid-season and their star rookie is out long term after getting ROCKED with a neutral zone hit. That's about as bad as things can get for a rebuilding team looking to rebuild not only their roster, but also their team's culture.

It's tough times to be a Blackhawks fan, for sure.
