What we feared has been confirmed. The National Hockey League announced today that due to COVID-related issues affecting both Clubs, tomorrow’s Detroit Red Wings at New York Islanders game has been postponed.

On top of that, nine more contests have been postponed and will be rescheduled for dates later in the season when such restrictions may be eased or lifted.

These are the teams affected by the changes of schedule: New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets, Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Seattle Kraken, Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild.

As well, the Boston-Montreal game on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Bell Centre will now be played at TD Garden in Boston, MA. A make-up date for the Montreal Canadiens’ home game against the Boston Bruins will be announced at a later date.

As for the Montreal Canadiens, Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic notes that while the NHL has not announced that the Habs' game vs. the New Jersey Devils will be postponed, it does not appear on the team's website at the moment.
