Defenseman Zach Redmond was traded to the Buffalo Sabres by the Montreal Canadiens today, in exchange of 26-year-old forward Nicolas Deslauriers. The 29-year-old blueliner talked to TVA Sports a few hours after the transaction, and he admitted he wasn't surprised at all.
Here is what he had to say:
"I didn't really expect to be traded, but I wasn't SHOCKED either, he said. When we look at Montreal's lineup, we can see there's a lot of defensemen. There was way too many people for the spots available. Most of the time, we don't really expect to be traded but I wasn't surprised to be honest."
Redmond never really had the chance to show Habs management what he's got, since he only played 16 games with the team. He said it will probably be easier for him in Buffalo:
"Everything's fine. I think it is a great opportunity for me to have a new start. They have less defensemen in Buffalo. It is a great opportunity for me to keep playing in the NHL, he said, before thanking the Montreal Canadiens for all they've done for him."
