Young hockey player dies tragically at just 17 years old.
A terrible tragedy in junior hockey.
A junior hockey team based out of Quebec, Canada is reporting some tragic news this week after a young member of their hockey team was taken from this world far too soon.
On Friday night, the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced that 17 year old defenseman Francis Durocher had passed away after a long battle with Leukemia. The team announced last March that Durocher had been diagnosed with the terrible disease and unfortunately it would limit him to just a total of 6 games in the QMJHL after being drafted in the third round of their draft in 2021. Those games would come during the 2021-22 regular season, but as you might expect Durocher's health was severely impacted by the leukemia.
The team released a brief statement:
"On behalf of all the Voltigeurs players, staff, volunteers and partners, we offer our sincere condolences to the family and to Francis' loved ones."
We here at Hockey Feed would also like to extend our deepest condolences to the Durocher family and to all of those impacted by Francis' passing.
