WWE superstar Kevin Owens shows Bruce Boudreau some love.
Boudreau gets a shoutout on Saturday night.
Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau very quickly won over the hearts and minds of his players when he took over as head coach from the departing Travis Green, and that has extended all the way to the Canucks fan base as well.
Although he has spent less than a full season as the head coach of the Canucks, Boudreau has quickly become a very popular figure in the city of Vancouver and by extension throughout many parts of British Columbia as well. On Saturday night we were treated to an example of Boudreau's rapidly growing popularity when the Canucks head coach got a special shout out during a WWE event in Vancouver.
The shout out came from none other than WWE superstar Kevin Owens, who just so happens to be Boudreau's favorite wrestler, and it came while Kevin Owens was standing smack dab in the middle of the ring. Owens was busy talking trash to his opponent, as is so often the case in professional wrestling, when his opponent decided to call Owens out for his attire.
The WWE superstar was sporting a Vancouver Canucks jersey that had his initials on the back, "KO", where the numbers should be and he proceeded to explain that the jersey had actually been a special gift. Owens would go on to reveal that the jersey had been gifted to him by Bruce Boudreau himself, leading to an explosion of cheers from the hometown crowd that was quickly followed by a sustained chant of "Bruce there it is."
Owens would then go on to explain to his opponent who exactly this Bruce Boudreau character is, leading to another loud chorus of cheers when he mentioned that Boudreau is the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks. Owens even went on to taunt his opponent about the fact that he also knows who Bruce Boudreau's favorite wrestler is and of course, as I've already mentioned, that man is Owens himself.
I have no doubt that Boudreau loved every second of this and it turned out to be quite the amusing segment, even for people who might not necessarily be as big a fan of the WWE as Boudreau himself is known to be.
