Three games in total have been forfeited at the World Juniors.

Earlier today, Russia has been forced to forfeit their game against Slovakia Wednesday due to a positive COVID-19 test, marking the third game cancelled in the past two days. Before that, it was Czechia’s game against Finland that was cancelled following a positive test result of one of its players overnight.

And let’s not forget how the defending champions Team USA had to forfeit against Switzerland because of COVID-19 issues within the American roster. Switzerland was awarded a 1-0 win and Team USA is undergoing testing to determine their next steps at the World Juniors.

Now, many insiders are being informed that the IIHF tournament directorate is expected to meet today to discuss the future of this World Juniors. It is said that cancellation of the remainder of the tournament is on the table, but nothing decided yet.

This is getting so messed up.

However, as TSN's James Duthie points out: "You have 10 teams, 250 players, plus their staffs, who have come a long way and been through a lot for a chance to play in the World Juniors. Most will never get another one.

You at least owe them the chance to see if you can find a way to get through it."
