Forward William Nylander's current contract is up next summer, and general manager Brad Treliving is going to be tasked with not only trying to keep him around, but fellow star Auston Matthews, who will find himself in the same boat.
Having reached 40 goals last season for the first time in his career, Nylander was the leading goal scorer for the Leafs and second overall in points. And his contract happens to be expiring next summer, and by all indications, he and new Toronto general manager Brad Treliving are not any closer to a new deal.
He's found himself in some rather outlandish trade rumors, and according to the latest rumor from Eklund of Hockey Buzz, Nylander could find himself heading to northern Alberta.
"Calgary enters the Nylander Sweeps...Hanifin?
The Flames are on the verge of something big. That is what I keep hearing and it's escalating... The latest name possibly coming to town is Willy Nylander...Hanifin would be the center piece coming back."
Just how strange would it be to see Nylander wearing red, white and yellow?
