The Minnesota Wild is busy on the trade market Wednesday. Earlier today, the Wild and general manger Bill Guerin shipped defenseman Calen Addison in return for forward Adam Faska and a fifth-round pick in 2026.
Now Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reports that the Wild will be trading for blue liner Zach Bogosian of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
In order to get their hands on Bogosian, the Wild is reportedly parting ways with a seventh round draft pick in 2025.
The trade was made official moments later by the Wild.
The Wild therefore made some interesting changes on their back end in two separate trades on Wednesday, parting ways with Addison and adding Bogosian to its roster.
Addison was serving on the third pairing for Minnesota, but he had also been seeing time on the first power-play unit, which surely made him an interesting trade target for San Jose. The young blue liner has five assists in 12 games this season. He appeared in 62 games last season, racking up 26 assists and three goals. He logged 33 assists and five goals over his four-year career with the Wild.
When it comes to the addition of Bogosian however, the Wild is getting leadership, experience and grit in the 33-year-old defenseman. Though he has yet to collect a point in the 2023-24 campaign, he's only played four games for the Lightning and has a 0 rating overall.
The hard-nosed player was the third overall pick in the 2008 draft and has made his journey in the NHL with stops on the roster of the Atlanta Thrashers, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres and the past three seasons with the Lightning.
