Here are some facts:

That jersey worn by Gretzky when he recorded his last NHL point sold for $715,120 with Grey Flannel Auctions on Sunday night, per TSN.

It hence became the third highest selling hockey jersey auctioned off, , behind Gretzky’s final Edmonton Oilers jersey ($1.452 million, also with Grey Flannel Auctions) and Paul Henderson’s Canada national team jersey worn during the 1972 Summit Series against the USSR ($1.275 million in 2010).

The New York Rangers’ jersey was last worn by the Great One on April 18th, 1999, the last game that Gretzky ever played. In that game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the legendary forward played 22 shifts for a total of 22:30 time on ice. He registered a single assist on the power play goal, which became his his 2,857th and final NHL point as a member of the Blue Shirts.
