The Edmonton Oilers are now officially in the offseason after their playoff run came to an end thanks to a six-game loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, who are on their way to their 4th conference final appearance in their brief franchise history.
Among the major issues that the Oilers suffered during the postseason was the inconsistent play of goaltender Stuart Skinner, who is one of three Calder Trophy nominees as the NHL's best rookie. And according to Chris Gawlik of the Locked On VGK podcast, this is enough to call into question the competency of Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft.
“You pull Skinner three times in five games and you roll with him in Game Six? I don’t get it,” Gawlik said.
