Vegas attempts to pull same disrespectful trade move on veteran player!

Just like they did with poor Marc-André Fleury…

The Vegas Golden Knights have a history of moving veterans on significant contracts to free up cap space in order to add younger players or other free agents. We all remember the controversial situation that took place a few seasons ago when star goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was moved to the Chicago Blackhawks for basically nothing. Well, it may happened again as Jesse Granger of The Athletic believes defenseman Alec Martinez, who has a year remaining on his contract with an annual cap hit of $5.25 million, could be next:

“He’s a big part of the team both on and off the ice, but at 36 with one year left on his deal, there are plenty of reasons to see that as an option. As for McNabb, I actually think he’s underpaid at $2.85 million and don’t really see him as an option to clear cap. Finding a player who brings an equal level of value at a lower cap hit than that seems very unlikely.”

Martinez just enjoyed his third run to a Stanley Cup championship with Vegas, after winning twice with the Los Angeles Kings. The Golden Knights acquired Martinez on Feb. 19, 2020, for second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 NHL Drafts.

The defenseman had a great playoff run, recording two goals in all 22 playoff games and added five assists after he had 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 77 regular-season games.

But he may be on the move again as no one puts it past the Golden Knights to move another veteran for a very little return during the offseason…
