Two WJC snubs appear to mock Canada's loss to Latvia.

Two young Canadians who were not selected to represent Canada at the WJC have caused a major controversy

A pair of young Canadians have suddenly found themselves at the center of controversy after a couple of sharp eyed fans discovered some rather interesting social media activity.

Both Zayne Parekh and Carter Yakemchuk were considered to be among the many snubs for this year's Canadian World Junior Championship team and it may very well be the case that both of these young men feel that they should have made the roster.

Following Canada's major upset loss at the hands of Latvia this past week, both Parekh and Yakemchuk were seen giving likes to posts that highlighted that upset loss, leading most to assume that the two snubs were celebrating the fact that the Canadians suffered such a shocking loss.

Here is a look at the like from Parekh:

And here is the one from Yakemchuk:

You could of course argue that the two young men were simply showing support for their fellow Canadians after a tough loss but that is not how the majority of Canadian observers have chosen to interpret these likes on social media, kicking up quite the controversy. That being said it is important to remember just how young both Parekh and Yakemchuk are, as well as just how emotional both young men must have been after being left off the team.

Parekh, a first round pick of the Calgary Flames, is just 18 years of age while Yakemchuk, a first round pick of the Ottawa Senators, is just one year older at 19 years of age.

That hasn't stopped fans from expressing their displeasure at their social media activity however and I do wonder if Hockey Canada might now view this negatively as well. Could these actions, perceived by many as mockery, hurt their chances when it comes to representing Canada in future tournaments? Only time will tell.
