Last week as the Edmonton Oilers finalized the signing of controversial forward Evander Kane, TSN’s Kayla Grey presented a two-part interview with the player in which he no topic was off limits, Right off the bat, Kane was asked about his contract termination by the San Jose Sharks and also discussed past issues with gambling, vaccination and behaviour.
Sitting in front of a guy who can easily lie on what has taken place, Grey did an amazing job asking the tough questions and looking for more clarity.
However on Thursday, the host was brutally attacked on social media, receiving hateful messages on her race and gender following her recent interview with Kane.
She posted a picture of one of the messages she got from an agressive man named Scott Smith, who insults her using racial slurs and stating she should be fired. He even says that if he were Evander Kane he would have gotten up and used violence on her!
This is tough to read, and completely unacceptable:
Grey did an amazing job sitting as she challenged Kane and made sure he answered to all the allegations out there.
While Kane won’t face discipline for an alleged COVID-19 protocol breach while with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, he has quite the story on him. He was disciplined earlier this season by the league for violating COVID protocols (and that’s without mentioning the whole saga with his estranged wife, the gambling rumours and his bankruptcy issues). The NHL suspended Kane in October for 21 games for submitting a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. When that suspension ended, the Sharks placed Kane on waivers and sent him to the Barracuda. He appeared in five games with the team, scoring two goals and adding six assists. His seven-year, $49 million deal signed in May of 2018 was terminated when he breached protocol while in the AHL.
Grey did great and she should not have to deal with this!
