Tragedy hits Rod Brind’Amour and the entire Hurricanes family

The Carolina Hurricanes have just shared the devastating news that he passing of Bob Brind’Amour, head coach Rod’s father on Thursday. General manager Don Waddell issued the following statement on Friday:
“There isn’t a person who met Bob who will ever forget him,” said Waddell. “Bob was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who lit up every room he entered with passion, humor and energy. He kept working as a pipe fitter in Campbell River well into Rod’s NHL career and it’s clear he passed that relentless work ethic down to his children.”
According to the Hurricanes’ official website, Bob Brind’Amour passed away on Thursday in Campbell River, BC, surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Linda, siblings Giles, Paul, Alice, Andre’ and Francine, sons Stephen, Rod and Mich, and grandchildren Skyler, Briley, Reece, Brooks, John, Marc, Claire, Leila, Brayden and Nicklaus.
The entire Hurricanes’ organization mourns Bob Brind’Amour, who was at the heart of Rod’s desire to win the Stanley Cup this postseason. But Carolina was swept in four games by the Florida Panthers in the Eastern conference final.
This is an amazing video from a couple of seasons ago when coach Brind’Amour called his father after a Canes’ win to wish him happy birthday. The entire roster gathered to a sing for him and this was just an incredible bonding moment for the Hurricanes:
