Trade rumours hint at a possible trade including Seattle Kraken’s Brandon Tanev
Look at his face, he too is stunned. Find out more about the trade rumour down below:
The phone has been ringing in Seattle. Reports have indicated that the Kraken has been receiving calls on forward Brandon Tanev, and according to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, the team is open to a potential move.
The Kraken was quite active during the summer, getting top free agents on board in order to push for a playoff spot, however, after 13 games, Seattle is 5-7-1, sitting in sixth place in the Pacific Division. Unfortunately, it’s been a sluggish start for Chandler Stephenson with the offense drying up in general.
Hence the idea of a trade to change things up with beloved Tanev’s name coming up in trade circles. Through 13 games, Tanev has scored just one goal and two points and could surely benefit from a change of scenery.
When speaking about the possibility of a trade coming to Seattle, Seravalli pointed out how the Kraken may have too many forwards and could be forced to move one out. Seravalli has also spoke about Yanni Gourde being an option as trade bait, though Tanev seems like a more plausible trade candidate.
«A bunch of teams have called about Gourde to this point, the Kraken have rebuffed that and not shown any interest in moving him. Tanev I think would be a little bit different.»
A trade could free up not only the roster space, but also room on the cap.
Tanev has been with the franchise since the expansion draft and moving on would probably be quite emotional. GM Ron Francis may be picking up the phone, however, for now, he might still ponder if he’s willing to move a guy like Tanev, who’s beloved in the dressing room and in Seattle.
