Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Put Your Money on That
On Friday, three different sources (unlinked and independent from each other) reported a crazy trade rumor regarding P.K Subban. Here’s the sloppy intellectual gymnastic that led to this crazy rumor:
—It all started with Martin Leclerc from Radio-Canada (Montreal Canadien insider) stating P.K. Subban could be traded by the expansion draft. The argument behind this statement: Nashville has a dilemma with protecting defensemen, as they have four excellent blueliners in PK Subban, Roman Josi, Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis.
—On Friday, Ian Halperin (a Canadian investigative journalist, writer and documentary filmmaker) added on 98.1 FM that some of his sources claimed P.K Subban would like to play for the Maple Leafs and get closer to his family. Van Riemsdyk might be an intriguing option for the Preds, who have long needed to add offensive punch.
—News reported by Luke Fox (from Quick Shifts) stated that the Maple Leafs and the Predators were “possible” trade partner. It all comes from the fact Lou Lamoriello and Mike Babcock were spotted at Game 3 & 4 of the Western Conference Final between the Anaheim Ducks and Nashville Predators.
In this case, if you add all these three points, it doesn’t mean the rumor is founded. Here’s why you should wait before putting your money on that.
