It looks as though the worst could soon be confirmed for Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg.
The first year Leafs defenseman continues to be hampered by a hip injury that also kept him out of action in both games in Sweden as part of the NHL Global Series; he’s not played since the beginning of last month.
According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, an announcement could soon be on the way that his season is over.
Klingberg, who is in his first season with the Maple Leafs after being signed by new Leafs GM Brad Treliving over the summer, has skated in 14 games this season and registered five assists and a -7 rating.
He split last season with the Anaheim Ducks and the Minnesota Wild after agreeing to come aboard over the summer; before that, he'd spent the first several years of his career with the Dallas Stars.
