Terrible news from Evander Kane just before Game 1.

The Edmonton Oilers will not be 100% as they start the Stanley Cup playoffs on Monday.

The Edmonton Oilers have received some terrible news just one day before they are set to kick off the Stanley Cup playoffs in Game 1 of their first round series against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.

The Oilers will not be coming into the game at 100% with news breaking on Sunday of a significant injury to Oilers forward Evander Kane. Of course it is no secret that Kane has been dealing with something, the Oilers forward missed the final 3 games of the regular season, but on Sunday it was revealed that Kane is currently dealing with a sports hernia.

Additionally, Kane himself has admitted that he has doubts about whether or not he will be able to play in Game 1 on Monday, which suggests that even if he does hit the ice he won't be doing so as the player he can be when fully healthy.

The Oilers don't play until tomorrow and an additional 24 hours of rest could make a difference, but it seems likely that this is going to be an injury that will limit Kane throughout much of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
