The official end of an era was announced late last month, as longtime Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron hung up the skates after deciding to give it one last go in 2022-23. While the regular season proved to be a record-breaking 65 victory campaign, the Bruins were shockingly eliminated in 7 games by the eventual Eastern Conference champion Florida Panthers in Round 1.
He departs the NHL as one of the most, if not the most, respected professional hockey players since Red Wings great Nicklas Lidstrom.
And in his native province of Quebec, he was on the recent receiving end of a touching tribute in front of thousands of fans at the annual Pro-Am charity game that included several of his now-former Bruins teammates.
Watch for yourself and be sure to have the tissues handy!
